Search Engine Optimisation

Search engine optimisation (SEO) has a reputation. There is an air of mysticism around it, and there are unscrupulous SEO companies out there that may achieve short term gains, but will damage your rankings in the long term. At TradingUp we take a responsible view on search engine optimisation, and this will pay dividends by achieving good long term results. We don't try to trick the search engines, we just provide them with excellent content.

In very basic terms, search engines will look for clues to tell them what your web site is about. They will look in two places, the first being your own web site content, and the second being external web sites that link to you. Our job is to make sure that you are putting the correct clues in the right places. Of course, there is a great deal more to SEO than that, but hopefully that will give you a basic idea of what we do.

A typical search engine optimisation project might involve the following stages:

  • Keyword Research - we will work with you to identify the keywords and keyphrases that are relevant to your business. We will then use various tools to find out what terms web users are searching for. By looking at the frequency of searches and the competition we will agree on a set of main keywords to target.
  • Web Site Restructure - depending on the way your site is built, we may need to make certain changes to it. At a minimum, we are likely to want to change certain elements of the overall structure, and add more page.
  • Copy Writing - We will work with you to produce keyword rich, compelling sales copy for your website. Our copy is designed to appeal to your visitors, yet still achieve the sort of search engine rankings you want for your business.
  • Link Building - One of the most important aspects of SEO is link building, and it's not just about the sheer number of links coming into your site. We will submit your site to respected and well known web directories and niche search engines. We can also help you to identify other web sites that might want to link to you. Above all, our linking strategies will look for targeted links that are relevant to your site.
  • Tweaking - SEO takes time and patience, and the goalposts are constantly moving. The whole process may well involve making ongoing changes to your web site and copy to help you to achieve the best results. We endeavour to give you excellent search engine positioning for the long term.
